Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has dismissed all commissioners in his cabinet, effectively dissolving the state’s executive council.
The state’s Secretary to the Government, announced on Monday that the governor has instructed the commissioners to hand over the administration of their ministries to permanent secretaries by Friday, April 3.
The statement explained that the move is aimed at creating an enabling environment for any council member wishing to contest in the upcoming general elections.

“Governor Zulum thanked the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, commitment, and invaluable contributions to the development and service of the people of Borno State,” the statement added.
This follows a trend across several states, where governors have asked political appointees seeking elective positions to resign by March 31, in line with the amended Electoral Act.
