Legendary football coach, High Chief Festus Adegboye Onigbinde, the Otun Balogun of Modakeke, is dead.
The renowned tactician passed away peacefully on Monday evening.
High Chief Onigbinde made history as the first indigenous Nigerian to coach the Super Eagles, a milestone that etched his name permanently in the annals of Nigerian football.
In a statement released on Monday and signed by Mrs Bolade Adesuyi, the family expressed deep gratitude to God for the impactful and fulfilled life he lived.
“We thank God for a life well spent and for his immense contributions to the Nigerian nation and the world as an exceptional football coach,” the statement read.
The family prayed that his soul would rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord.
