A 24-year-old man, Ilesanmi Ismaila, has been remanded at the Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti over his alleged involvement in an armed robbery incident.
Ismaila was ordered into custody by Magistrate O. F. Bamidele of an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court on Friday following an ex parte application by the prosecution.
The prosecutor, ASP Yomi Osuolale, told the court that there was probable cause to remand the defendant, who is reasonably suspected to have committed armed robbery against two persons identified as Adekunle Gbenga and Bola Benson.
Osuolale said the alleged offence was committed within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District on February 24, 2026, at about 3:00 a.m.
According to the prosecutor, the offence is punishable under Section 241 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He further informed the court that the matter required further investigation and that the original case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The prosecutor, therefore, urged the court to grant the motion ex parte and remand the defendant pending the outcome of the legal advice.
In her ruling, Magistrate Bamidele granted the application and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the correctional facility pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
The case was adjourned till March 3, 2026, for mention.
