The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has defended the legacy of his administration, declaring that every household in the state benefited from the programmes and policies implemented during his eight years in office.
Aregbesola made the remarks on Saturday while speaking at Ipadàbọ̀ Orànmíyàn, a free medical outreach organised for ADC leaders at the Enuwa Town Hall in Ile-Ife.
Reflecting on his tenure as governor, the immediate past Minister of Interior said his administration laid the foundation for good governance in Osun and ensured that its developmental programmes reached residents across the state, irrespective of political affiliation.
“I am not supposed to say this, but when we get to some juncture, we have to say things. Sixteen years ago, good governance commenced in Osun. We used eight solid years to deliver good governance. We made people understand the difference between God-led governance and governance imposed by force,” he said.
The former governor maintained that the impact of his administration was felt in every home in the state.
“In summary, there was no household or family in Osun State that did not benefit from the positive impact of our eight-year administration, including friends, foes and even our critics,”Aregbesola stated.
Highlighting one of the flagship programmes of his administration, he pointed to the administration’s school feeding initiative, noting that many of its beneficiaries are now adults.
“To the elementary school pupils who benefited from our school feeding programme, the oldest among them is 24 years old today,” he added.
His remarks came at a time the ADC is intensifying consultations and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, in which the party hopes to challenge for power.
