Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved a two-year extension for the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Prof. Clement Adebooye.
The Governor announced the extension on Monday during the inauguration of the university’s reconstituted Governing Council at the Government House, Osogbo.
According to a statement by UNIOSUN Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, Adeleke said the decision was taken in the interest of the university to strengthen governance, ensure continuity and prevent any vacuum that could disrupt administration.
He disclosed that Adebooye had initially declined the offer but later accepted it.
The Governor described UNIOSUN as “one of the enduring investments of the people of Osun State,” noting that its academic and research activities contribute to the economic, social and intellectual development of the state and Nigeria.
In his vote of thanks, Prof. Adebooye appreciated the Governor, members of the State Executive Council and the new council, and pledged that the management would continue to work with all stakeholders to position UNIOSUN among leading universities in Africa and beyond.
