The Olufon of Ifon-Osun in Orolu Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Peter Ipadeola, recently paid a historic two-day solidarity visit to Ifon Omima Kingdom in Ondo State to intervene in the community’s six-year stool crisis.
The visit, which took place on Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, 2026, according to a statement on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary of the monarch, Akeeb Yusuff, was aimed at engaging stakeholders on the installation of a new traditional ruler following the demise of the late Olufon of Ifon Omima, Oba Israel Adewusi, in 2020.
The statement noted that the monarch was accompanied by his wives, chiefs, members of the royal family, Ifon Progressive Union (IPU) members and palace officials.
On arrival, the Olufon’s entourage was first received at the residence of the Regent of Ifon, Omima, Adéùlé, before proceeding to the town hall where community stakeholders had gathered.
At the town hall, the kingmakers, chiefs, members of the royal families, representatives of the Ifon Development Union (IDU), Ifon Improvement Forum (IIF), Ifon Youth Association (IYA), cultural performers, and other dignitaries received Oba Ipadeola.
The statement added that the monarch held consultative meetings with the kingmakers, ruling houses, and development unions as part of a fact-finding exercise centred on the vacant stool, challenges confronting the community, and possible ways forward.
“The historic tie between the two kingdoms was also rekindled, as Ifon Omima traces its roots to Ifon Ile, now Ifon-Osun in Orolu Kingdom.

“Historical account holds that the founding lineage migrated from Ifon-Osun following a contest for kingship and later established Ifon Omima, now headquarters of Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State,” the statement explained.
It added that the title Olufon of Ifon Omima was adopted around 1947 after permission was sought from the Olufon of Ifon-Osun through the District Officer, Ibadan Northern District, Osogbo.
“The visit represented more than a ceremonial appearance; it was a powerful reminder that geographical distance and the passage of generations need not sever ancestral bonds,” the statement said.
