A lecturer at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Mr Anselm Victory Ojodomo, has died after collapsing while teaching in class.
The institution confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday in Lokoja by the Acting Co-ordinator of the Directorate of Public Relations, John Onimisi.
The statement quoted the Rector, Prof. Salihu Avidime, as describing the development as a deep personal shock.
Ojodomo’s death has stirred grief across the polytechnic community, coming barely one month after the death of another lecturer, Dr Barnabas Akuba, shortly after completing his PhD programme.
The latest tragedy has raised concern among staff and students, with many expressing worry over the loss of two lecturers within a short period.
Students who witnessed the incident said Ojodomo suddenly collapsed while addressing them in class.
They said efforts were made to save him, but he was later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital.
The late lecturer was a member of staff in the Department of Public Administration.
Reacting to the incident, Avidime said he had met with Ojodomo only a few hours before his death and they exchanged pleasantries.
He described him as a humble, dedicated and promising academic who remained committed to excellence in service.
“The Polytechnic community is mourning the loss of a promising academic and dependable colleague, who embodied scholarship, service, and character.
“Ojodomo’s contributions as Deputy Dean, Students Services, and lecturer are remembered as impactful and inspiring,” the rector said.
According to the institution, Ojodomo was born on October 5, 1992, and died on March 27, 2026.
He held a Master’s degree from Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, and had recently defended his PhD proposal.
He joined Kogi State Polytechnic in 2021 and served on several committees before his death.
The management of the polytechnic condoled with his family and the people of Igalamela/Odolu, praying for the repose of his soul.
