The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recovered additional components from its ATR 42-500 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as search and recovery operations continue at the accident site.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday, the Air Force said specialist divers from the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau were continuing underwater search operations alongside its recovery team.
The ongoing operation involves hydrographic surveys, satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery, mud excavation and the removal of excess water to improve access to areas of interest.
According to the NAF, the teams are working round the clock to locate and retrieve relevant materials for documentation and preservation as part of the ongoing investigation.
“Additional aircraft components have been recovered as efforts continue to locate and retrieve relevant materials for documentation and preservation in support of the ongoing investigation,” the statement said.
The latest recovery comes as investigators intensify efforts to retrieve evidence from the crash site to support the investigation into the accident.
